A Mitzvah with a Mission

When Brooke began planning her Bat Mitzvah, she knew she wanted her mitzvah project to be something truly meaningful, something that would honor the memory of her dear friend, Sami Liber. Her warmth, kindness, and artistic spirit left an unforgettable mark on those who knew her.

To carry Sami’s light forward, Brooke reached out to Sami’s parents, Rod and Carla, to see how she could support The SAMI Foundation, created in Sami’s honor. With a mission to support young artists and provide access to creative opportunities, the foundation reflects everything Sami loved—art, music, fashion, and self-expression.

As part of her mitzvah project, Brooke asked family and friends to contribute to Sami's foundation, a call to action which raised over $20,000! But Brooke didn't stop there. She and a group of her friends assembled InspiredbySami art kits, filled with sketchbooks, markers, colored pencils, and other creative tools, to be distributed to children living in shelters across the country. These kits, made possible through a partnership with Present Now, give kids a chance to express themselves artistically, just as Sami always did.
